Information security and data protection

The Municipality of Posio applies the EU General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679) and the supplementary national Data Protection Act (1050/2018). 

The aim of the GDPR is to increase the transparency of the processing of personal data and to strengthen data subjects’ rights to control the processing of their personal data. Personal data refers to, for example, a person’s name, personal identification number or contact details, and processing of personal data refers to, for example, the collection, adaptation or disclosure of personal data. Personal data are processed by the Municipality of Posio primarily for the fulfilment of legal obligations, the performance of tasks carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority. If the processing of personal data is based on the consent of the data subject, the data subject may, if necessary, contact the Municipality of Posio, as the data controller, to withdraw their consent.
